Thank you for choosing Snatched Beauty for your skincare and beauty needs! Below are our aftercare instructions. Take a moment to review them and contact us if you have any questions and/concerns.
After your Snatched Beauty appointment, there are a few additional things that you can do for after care to ensure that your skin stays smooth and free of bumps or breakouts, which are some of the most common problems after a wax.
Stay Out of the Water: Newly waxed skin is vulnerable to infection, which is why you’ll want to give yourself a bit of time to heal before getting into the water. Sources of standing water in particular, such pools, are a concern and should be avoided for 24-48 hours after a wax. Showers are fine after the procedure. COOL or Luke warm showers ONLY!
Keep Your Hands to Yourself: It may be tempting to check out your newly smooth skin. However, you’ll want to wait at least a day before running your fingers down there. This is because your fingers are likely to introduce bacteria to the newly sensitized region.
Chill-Out: Because the newly waxed area is more sensitive and more susceptible to invading bacteria, it’s best to avoid heat, sweat, and friction after your wax. For at least 24 hours, you’ll want to avoid saunas, tanning beds, and even the gym.
Wait for Sex: Give yourself about 2 days, or 24-48 hours, to recover from the wax before engaging in any sexual activity.
Keep it Loose: Avoid tight and constricting clothing for a few days after your wax. This helps the area heal faster and avoids friction, which can cause sweat and bacteria buildup.
Soothe Irritation: There is a variety of high-quality products that are designed to help soothe post-waxing irritation. You’ll want to start with something that isn’t too oily, such as a soothing, Aloe Vera Gel and then progress to cortisone cream. About two days after the wax, you can also use oils to help ensure smoothness.
Exfoliate: Two days after your wax, use a good quality exfoliant to help avoid ingrown hairs. You can make your own exfoliant. Remember, that exfoliating too soon can cause additional irritation to your skin, so you should definitely wait for the 48-hour mark, or even longer if your skin is particularly sensitive.New bumps are usually from irritation, while older bumps are from ingrown hairsTiming is key to having a positive waxing experience. Avoid scheduling during your period, and give yourself at least two days away from the gym and from any strenuous activity. It’s normal to have post-waxing bumps, and they can last for a day after your wax. Although, using a soothing gel or cream can help you get rid of the bumps faster cortisone cream is what I recommend to my clients for any irritation.Avoid contaminating the area with your fingers and avoid activities that cause frictionExfoliating two days after your wax helps get rid of ingrown hairsIf bumps persist or become itchy, you may be experiencing an allergic reaction but normally happens immediately. An over the counter allergy medication like Claritin/Cortisone Cream may help, but if the problem persists, call your doctor. It’s also a good idea to contact the spa to get the names of the products that were used, so you know what to avoid in the future.Using professional products and wax aftercare products will help ensure a better result.

After a facial, your skin will probably be soft, smooth and well hydrated. However, if multiple extractions were needed or if you required a fair amount of exfoliation, your face may be somewhat rosy for one to two hours or more, depending on how sensitive your skin is. This is quite normal. You can apply mineral makeup after your facial if there is some redness you want to conceal.
What about home care? Your esthetician will go over which professional home care products for you to continue the improvement in your skin following your professional treatment. This way, you will be using products that maximize benefits and prolong the effects of your treatment. Your therapist can explain how, when and how much of the products to use. Feel free to call the therapist later, if you have any questions.

After most peels, the skin will be pink to red, and look shiny and tight. It is vital to apply sunscreen of SFP 30 or greater to the skin for the next 48 hours, minimum. You must also stay out of the sun, as your skin will be very sensitive to UV rays and could be damaged by sun exposure. The skin will begin to flake or peel within 2–3 days after the treatment, unless you had a lactic acid peel—these encourage moisture retention and may not produce any actual peeling. Sun-damaged areas of your skin will appear darker at first, then will lighten. This is normal. Deeper peels can produce peeling for a week or more. To assist in removing the flaking skin, an enzyme peel or light microdermabrasion treatment is sometimes scheduled a week or so after the initial peel. For maximum results, a series of peels is usually recommended, and may be necessary for treating challenging issues such as hyperpigmentation.
Home care after a chemical peel Your esthetician will recommend healing products to use for the week or two following your peel. These will soothe and nourish your skin, and aid in its recovery. Usually it is best to avoid makeup during this time, to allow the skin to heal and function without interference. However, if you must wear makeup, mineral makeup will not adversely affect the skin.
